Dr. Marva Aven had an humble beginning as the fourth child of five siblings. Born to sharecropping parents in the state of Mississippi, she knows personally what physical labor and second class status in a rural community feel like. Early in her life she dreamed of bigger and better opportunities in this world. The first step in that direction was her family’s move from that sharecropping farm to Memphis, Tennessee. She completed elementary and secondary schooling there and attended Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at Beloit College, she earned a Master of Arts degree in Audiology from Memphis State University (now known as the University of Memphis). A Doctor of Audiology degree was subsequently obtained from A.T. Still University School of Health Sciences located in Mesa, Arizona.
Dr. Marva Aven, currently retired, was a practicing Audiologist for more than forty-five years. She was led to Christ by her now-deceased brother, Parker Conley, immediately following her graduation from college. That encounter with Jesus Christ became a life-long passion to know and share the good news of the Gospel with others. In the past she has led home Bible study groups and taught the Word of God in various church settings.
