Although Leelia has lived in the vicinity of her birthplace, Marion, Indiana, she has traveled extensively. She has visited all fifty states, five Canadian provinces, the Yukon Territory, and four continents. Her travels include a mission trip to Asia. Leelia has a heart for getting the Word of God to people in their native languages as well as supporting believers in countries where they are persecuted.
She is a historian who has conducted a number of musical historical programs, many of which focused on Abraham Lincoln. Leelia was a regular contributor to Hoosier Heritage Magazine throughout its years of publication. She presently writes about an internationally award-winning youth circus in Peru, Indiana for White Tops, a professional circus magazine.
She and her husband, Tom, are volunteers with the Peru Amateur Circus, which is fifteen miles from their home and one of the best youth programs in the country. She and Tom live on four and a half acres full of wildlife and trees, which they share with their Pembroke Welsh Corgi Joel. They have three children, seven granddaughters, and one living grandson. Leelia also teaches a Bible study on the Hebraic understanding of Scripture.
