The author is a daughter of the couple whose WWII story is told in this book.  After their deaths, she found a box of letters, telegrams and other war documents from WWII that revealed her parent’s lives during the war years.  Although she says her parents never talked much about the war, the story of the lives that unfolded through their letters moved her to share it as an example of the strength, patience and commitment of a generation that lived through an extraordinary time.
