Wyrd and Other Derelictions by Adam L G Nevill. It’s a collection of short stories which have no characters.
The first story is excellent. Horror stories done via a sort of ekphrasis of environment. I don’t enjoy the rest as much as the first one, but they are still good.
The book I plan on reading is, The Hate U Give, written by Angie Thomas. I saw the movie, and in my experience, I feel the book gives a lot more detail than a movie that may be only 2 hours long. Also, when you read the book, you can feel more of what the author is trying to convey.
This book is really good. I haven’t watched the movie, I’m afraid it would be such a let down. The book was so moving and I just don’t think the movie adaptation would effect my emotions like the book.
I’ve often experienced the book is better than the film.
I’m currently re-reading Dean Koontz’s “Odd” series. I really love the character in that he never apologizes for his faults. And he simply let’s his talent take him on a journey.
T.c. Cromer books of unlucky charms .. I’m on the 3rd book and they are good! It’s about witches and stuff
The second mrs astor by Shana abe which is a book club book. But i am enjoying it.
Rereading Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series mainly to keep up with my daughter. With the new series on Disney plus, I wanted to see how close or far they would stray from the original.
Reading Janet Evanovich Dirty Thirty. I like her writing style and humor mixed with drama. Stephanie Plum bail bonds agent has a perfect blend of drama and comedy.
I’m currently reading An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena. It has been on my bookshelf for a while and I’m trying to read through my bookshelf this year.
Scientific Advertising. It’s a classic sales book from 1923, dated as you would expect with the activities and expectations of people (and the prices of goods), but presenting the core of human wants and desires that have been unchanged since Caeser.
I am reading Christine Wood’s novel; A Stalkers Tale. The author was interviewed on The Strictly/Stalking podcast. She’s been stalked by the same person for over 44 years. I was stalked as a teenager and my husband and I were harassed by a neighbor for 2 1/2 years. I normally don’t look for novels with characters who are similar to me. I really am grateful to her for writing this novel. It’s a great read. The main character. Bianca is living a great life in spite of her stalker.
I am reading “Where the Crawdads Sing” I have read it several time before. It is my favorite book and for some reason I can’t seen to put it down for a very long time.
“Well Matched” by Jen DeLuca. It is part of a series of book Senate around the members of a Renaissance fair in a modern small town American city. I just loved all the characters from the other books, and so it made common sense to finished out the series.
I am currently coming to the end of the 7th book of the Scotland Street series from Alexander McCall Smith. I read them all years ago and am just reading my way back through them.
A gentle read when you don’t want anything you have to think about too much after a hard day at work. I absolutely love the characters – especially Little Bertie and his overbearing mother!
My next read is going to be Dead End Tours from local author Ashley Lister. His characters represent the absolute dregs of society but the like of which can be found in every single town and city.
Currently I am reading Winterset Hollow. Just started it yesterday. What brought me to it was a recommendation from one of my best friends. We have similar taste, so I’m looking forward to it
